Ryo protected a family that hated witchers when a dragon attacked. He secured them inside a barn, held the chained doors shut from the outside, and cast Quen over the structure.

Ryo remained exposed to the dragonfire while the family stayed protected within. The reinforced Quen returned the force and killed the dragon, but Ryo collapsed with mortal injuries.

Kiba arrived before he died and turned him into a vampire.
